This year, Anker has recalled three portable power banks with model numbers A1642, A1647, and A1652. This month, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPS) disclosed that Anker has received over two dozen complaints about the batteries overheating, exploding, or catching fire. Two victims have reported first and second-degree burns on their hands.
Anker offers a recall website where consumers can verify if their battery pack is recalled to verify for a free replacement. Anker reminds consumers to bring the packs to battery collection sites for proper disposal, as improper disposal can lead to fire hazards in trash facilities and waste treatment plants.
