Biography/Background
Upon graduating from Drexel University, Andrew Jones began his career as a project design engineer at an architecture, engineering, and construction management firm in Philadelphia.
He focused on various tasks in this role, including performing design calculations to ensure safe and efficient engineering solutions across different sectors. His work involved applying regional and national building codes to determine the external forces affecting building structures and subsystems. He was responsible for analyzing and designing structural components for gravity and lateral force-resisting systems in wood, steel, and concrete structures. Additionally, Andrew prepared structural drawings and details for client use, reviewed contractor shop drawings for conformance with structural plans, and coordinated with fabricators, contractors, and architects to address design conflicts and field issues through RFIs. He also modeled new and existing structures using Revit and RAM Structural Systems, conducted site surveys to assess the condition of existing structural systems and produced repair and maintenance documents for structural restoration projects.
