Biography/Background
Eugene O’Neill is one of CED’s most experienced Accident Reconstructionists. ACTAR qualified since 1993, Mr. O’Neill has investigated hundreds of motor vehicle accidents. His experience and expertise ranges from heavy trucking to bicycles and pedestrian strikes. Mr. O’Neill has years of experience in Crash Data Retrieval (EDR downloads). Mr. O’Neill has the unique, and very powerful, perspective of being both an engineer and a police officer. This gives him insight and access that isn’t available to many accident reconstructionists. His work as a civil engineer has him intimately familiar with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
Prior to joining CED, Mr. O’Neill was a civil engineer, rebuilding roads and bridges. He then worked as a Massachusetts State Trooper for twenty-seven years, responding to thousands of accidents and reconstructing hundreds. Since 2015 Mr. O’Neill has dedicated his work to accident reconstruction and cause analysis.
Mr. O’Neill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Lowell (UMass), Massachusetts, a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College and an Associates in Aviation Science.
