Biography/Background
John Spierto is a senior mechanical engineer with decades of experience working with outstanding clients including the Atlanta International Airport, Medtronic, Merck, Bridgestone, Firestone, Bosch, and NBCUniversal to name a prestigious few. His 33 years of professional engineering experience began in Atlanta working for Newcomb and Boyd Engineering with projects that included the University of Georgia Ramsey Student Center, a fitness center of over 1 million sq. ft.
His early career granted him the opportunity to work as a contractor for the United States Navy where he designed custom-fabricated tooling to visually inspect and repair nuclear steam generators. His tenure afforded him team leadership of engineering teams which inspected Nuclear Steam Generators (NSG) aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Nimitz, along with several nuclear-powered submarines.
Mr. Spierto had the opportunity to work for an engineering giant Jacobs Engineering where he was lead design engineer and later associate project manager designing water treatment plants in the southern states of Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Nebraska.
Troubleshooting humidity-caused damages in buildings required learned skills in methods of investigation and testing. Skills utilized in future smart building mechanical systems designed for thermal comfort and low energy usage. He earned certifications in Energy Management (CEM) and Energy Measurement and Verification (CMVP). He utilized energy efficiency skills to site investigate, audit, and develop projects to produce reliable and sustainable systems to heat, cool, supply water, steam, and compressed air to clients including Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Hotel, Universal Studios Hello Kitty Betty Boop Retail Attraction, the Jacksonville International Airport and the University of Tampa. Recent projects have included Mechanical Building Systems Subject Matter Expert guiding engineering firms in the design of the world’s largest theme park Universal Beijing.
Mr. Spierto’s career has prepared him to provide sound engineering principles and creative insight to develop investigative reports that shed light into the causes and effects encountered in the world of forensic engineering.
