Biography/Background
Michael A. Hickner, Ph.D is one of CED’s Chemical Engineering and Materials Science consultants. Along with CED, Dr. Hickner is an associate professor of materials science at The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Hickner was previously a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories and has worked at Los Alamos and Oak Ridge National labs. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Chemical Society, and Materials Research Society and regularly reviews research grant applications for the US and overseas organizations.
He has authored and co-authored more than 150 technical publications and is a sought-after speaker for conference, corporate and national laboratory engagements.
Dr. Hickner performs federally and industrially funded research in polymers, clean water technology and environmentally friendly energy applications.
He supervises a group of 10 researchers performing applied and basic research.
